I've not been successful running r.contour on a raster which I made doing r.patch on a few SRTM tiles. After r.contour runs for a short while, disk activity goes up, and the progress indicator stops. Then after another minute, "killed" appears and the contour vector is not properly created. I tried with a smaller subsection of the raster, and it succeeded. Here's r.info on the raster that fails:

Is the region too large?
Thanks,
