6.4.0RC5
Mac OS X 10.5.7
1.8Ghz 1GB of RAM-
the only input is the raster patch_dem 1/3arc second
r.watershed elevation=patch_dem@PERMANENT threshold=10000
accumulation=accumulation basin=catch stream=str
this exits with the following message:
SECTION 1a (of 5): Initiating Memory.
ERROR: Raster map <patch_dem@PERMANENT> not found
WARNING: Subprocess failed with exit code 256
WARNING: category information for [accumulation] in [PERMANENT] missing or
invalid
WARNING: category information for [catch] in [PERMANENT] missing or invalid
WARNING: category information for [str] in [PERMANENT] missing or invalid
I know catch is not in PERMANENT it is an output etc.
I have been trying all day with different parameters and I can't
figure it out. I want to delineate watersheds with there aspects and
"other cool watershed things". I also want to get the strahler order
for streams. I was going to use v.strahler, but this addon seems to
be defunct. I have used it but it writes values to a text file... I
am thinking of using SAGA for stream ordering- I believe that it has
this particular feature.
thanks in advance,
Stephen Sefick

Let's not spend our time and resources thinking about things that are
so little or so large that all they really do for us is puff us up and
make us feel like gods. We are mammals, and have not exhausted the
annoying little problems of being mammals.

Sorry patch_dem was patch_map - The process is still stalling however

In what section? What is the size the current computational region, rows
x columns? Did it go into swap space?

I did a resample to the current computation region. This made the
colnumxrownum go from 100000x100000 to 1000x1000, and this ran like a
champ. Lesson- don't run a watershed delineation on the entire state
of georgia.
thanks for all of your help,
