[GRASS-user] Random read is not supported by OGR for this layer

I trying to use v.external to access data in a postgres-postgis database. While GRASS builds the topology, I get the following message:

Random read is not supported by OGR for this layer, cannot build support.

I've found a discussion on this message in the mail list archive:

Frank Warmerdam suggested to me in IRC to open a bug report in the GDAL trac

(unfortunately the user didn't follow up in 2007, so no patch yet)
