[GRASS-user] satellite imagery for percentage paved, landscaped area

Dear Francois,

I’m sure that you can use the GRASS toolset to do the processing as you describe. I don’t know if there are any prepared processing chains specifically for that goal. However, I just wanted to let you know that if you are working on the European region, then I would suggest to check out some of the products that the European Environment Agency (EEA) has that could fit what you are looking for.

For example imperviousness: https://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/copernicus-land-monitoring-service-imperviousness-2

or urban atlas: https://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/copernicus-land-monitoring-service-urban-atlas

You can see some of the other products here: https://land.copernicus.eu/pan-european

Hope this helps,
Conrad

Hi

Is it possible with grass to estimate the percentage of landscaped area in

a city/waterhed by using satellite imagery processing.

if so, as a next step, is it also possible to differentiate between roads

and and other impervious areas?
