[GRASS-user] solid volume calculation

Dear list,

I have a question. I know grass uses voxels and volumes, but what is the
best way (is it even possible?) to calculate volumes over a DEM ? for
example if there is a depression in my DEM, how to calculate how much
water can be collected in that depression??

thank you for your time,
Francesco Pirotti

Hi,

take r.lake module from CVS and create lake map that fills depression.
Get all cell value sum with r.sum and multiply it with cells area. Not
most precise method as it assumes that whole cell has constant height,
but works.

wbr,
Maris.
