[GRASS-user] unable to execute d.mon

Dear people,

I wonder why I can’t execute d.mon in my grass72. I’m working on fedora 26 (and GNOME) and tried to install grass72. I have installed the source code and previously installed the whole set of libraries you required, but I can’t open monitors. When typing d.mon or even g.gui, I receive the following message, “Unable to execute the command”. Do you have any idea to make it work?

Thanks in advance

Have you started GRASS at all? You can normally run these commands
only from a running GRASS session.

Yes, I guess, I've started grass using --text option because I'm interested in using my own "sh". But always find problems to execute d.mon start=wx1

Something to add from my last email. I've also installed QGIS and its GRASS toolbox. Then d.mon works using the QGIS console, I mean from the GRASS toolbox in QGIS...

Thanks

To verify, please tell us the output of
echo $GISBASE

FWIW, I have made a package from GRASS GIS 7.2.2:

The ouput is

Yes, this is what I installed, but I guess it was a previous version of grass7.2. Do you recommend to reinstall again with this available version?

ok that looks reasonable.

This will be enough to fetch the update (I suppose that you enabled the repo):
dnf update

Markus

Yes, running GRASS is GRASS GIS 7.2.2RC2

There is meanwhile 7.2.2 (final). To refresh your local dnf metadata, try

sudo su
dnf clean metadata && dnf update

Then 7.2.2 should be installed.

Markus

Then, installed and checked 7.2.2. Is there anything else you would suggest to check?

Thanks a lot for your time

Let's discuss this off-list and then send the summary...
