|Some hints to my problems would be appreciated:
|
|1) I ftped the grass4.0.cpio.Z file from the moon. Uncompress worked but
| now I have difficulties to go further on my IBM RS6000 (AIX 3.1.5):
| If I enter
| cpio -iv <grass4.0.cpio
| I get
| Out of phase--get help
Well, the -v option is only available if you're creating a cpio archive (i.e.
with the -o, as in -ov.) A typical command to extract a cpio archive would be
% cpio -idm < grass4.0.cpio
Your cpio may be giving that error for the -v option, or the transfer may
have originally been corrupted as was suggested. The -d is definitely
required, however.
|2) How do I get the archive files of grassu-list ?
| Is the mailserver similar to LISTSERV ?
Our list manager is not on BITNET, and thus doesn't run the LISTSERV software.
If you send the word HELP in the body of a message to
grassu-request@moon.cecer.army.mil
you'll get a list of commands, including the GET and DIR commands which will
allow you to get the archives. Our list manager software is called listman,
and is fairly well known in the Unix mailing list world.
If you need any help on the site, feel free to email me at
lists-owner@moon.cecer.army.mil
|Thanks,
You're welcome!
