Grass5.0beta2 install prob with binaries

Some lockfiles have to be global, just think of the number of
graphic display pipes used or physical inputs devices.=20
So two ways from there to improve the situation:

  Make the locking executables setgid or setuid.
  (and have just one executable doing the locking.)
  And/or use the /tmp directory.

  Localise all global lockable resources.
  (Unlikely to work.)

OK. This looks, then, like a situation which is dependant on the local
environment. With xterms off a central server I can see the problems.
With a bunch of networked PCs (what we have here) it may be less of a
difficulty.

I would not like to have the executables be more "powerful," so localizing
locks would be a better solution. Perhaps this could eventually be a
configuration option. Of course, there likely are more important things
to worry about. :^)
