Subject: Data stream option for v.in.ascii
Platform: GNU/Linux/i386
grass binary for platform: Compiled from Sources
GRASS Version: 5pre4
v.in.ascii still lacks a piping option.
Such a thing like
cat mycoolfile.txt| v.in.ascii
would sometimes be useful.
Actually, the same is true for v.out.ascii.

The problem is more general; v.in.ascii reads from a GRASS map, rather
than a file. IMHO, it should be made to behave like any other *.in.*
program.
If it could read from an arbitrary file, "v.in.ascii input=/dev/stdin"
would work.
