On Fedora Core3(i386) and SUSE 9.2 (i386), I compiled the source of GRASS 5.4 (also GDAL, PROJ4). Each command of GRASS 5.4 could well perform on the shell. However, in the dialog window of GUI, I cannot edit the string within the edit boxes, althouth the bottons within the dialog window could well perform and select the potions. In the edit box, I pressed the key, but non of changes could appeared.

are you trying to edit the text in the box on the bottom of the GUI
(that won't work) or in the text box of each option?
