A student of mine would like to appropriately cite GRASS software in a paper. What is the best way to do this?

I thought that this was covered on the web site somewhere, but now I can't find it. I may be getting mixed up with the R web site.
I recently used:
GRASS Development Team (2002). Geographic Resources Analysis Support System (GRASS), GNU General Public License.
but I don't remember what I based that on...
