Do I still need all the other bits such as g77 and X11R6.4 to get GRASS to
work or all I need is the preconfigured downloads?
For the moment all I need is to get the rast.to.vect to work. Though I
would like to get a DEM going, but without a monitor it may not be much use.

hi Bradley,
Many of the grass data manipulation functions
are available for windows. The monitor (or
display) is not yet available. I have not tried
the Tcl/Tk interface yet though. You will have to install either the older Cygwin
B20.1 distribution or the newer version 1.1.2
in order to get the "unix" commands and DLLs
required to run grass under Windows. The ZIP distribution looks for executables under the
/usr/local/grass-5.0b area. Forward slashes only make
sense when using Cygwin.John Huddleston
