Hallo list!
I have some questions about the licence of the GRASS 5.x Reference
Manual. First of all, is there any licence and if so which one? GPL,
since GRASS is under GPL?
I didn't find any note on the homepage of the GRASS documentation
project. Perhaps it should be added there.
Have a nice weekend
Silke

Hi Silke,
thanks for pointing this out. If there are no objections,
I'll add a GPL statement,
Markus

GPL should be put on GRASS reference manual as well as on r.mapcalc, nviz
and
other tutorials (if there are any) ASAP. If they are taken as public
domain and published with
a publisher, then the publisher owns the copyright and there would be
lots of
restrictions. Please check everything that is on the web site that might
need a GPL licence.
I am not sure about the logo and the name - as far as I know those are
not protected either
and I am not sure whether they should be.

The default without a copyright notice is that the document
are copyrighted and you do not have any permissions by the
holder of the copyrights.
So there is no hurry.

If we have something which can be considered part of the GRASS
package we can easily put GNU GPL on it, because its part of a
software package.
If we have major additional documentation or tutorials, which are
clearly seperate from the GRASS software we can consider using the FDL.
