[GRASS5] Multiple masks

Whenever I set up a new mask using r.mask, the old one is replaced. I
would like to add the masks, so that I can spare some time and disk space.

Is it possible to overlay multiple masks in GRASS GIS?

No; you would need to manuall generate the overall mask, e.g. using
r.mapcalc.
