[GRASS5] postscript labels for vector objects

Lorenzo,

I think I’ve fixed this. At least the pdf and eps output looks fine, even if I change the postscript text overlays. I added an erase tcltk objects command before the screen redraw. I also fixed a mislabeling problem and added a small delay in the printing routines to (hopefully) make sure that the eps file finishes writing before ghostscript tries to convert it to pdf. Next, I’m going to change the xtn menu to make it compatible with the new GRASS Extensions Manager. You might want to see if the qgis script can install itself via GEM, for broader compatibility.

Cheers
Michael

Hi Michael

IR17;ve just updated the GIS Manager in the cvs to add a new layer type for creating postscript labels for vector objects. It uses information from a labels file (created with v.label) to make this text. Because it creates TclTk text objects, it ignores v.label highlighting, background, and rotation options.

Also, like the postscript text layer (renamed to clarify this), these labels can display on the screen or be output to a postscript device (eps, pdf, or printer). But they will not appear in raster ppm, jpeg, tif, or bmp output.

I’ve also updated GIS Manager to conform with the new options database specifications, developed by Cedrick Shock. This will make formatting consistent across the entire gui and make it easy to change formatting across the entire gui.

GREAT. This is a very useful command to insert text.

There is a problem when you make a PDF (or PS) from Print button. This is an old problem in new gis.m.

  • You create your vector - raster layers and text layers.
  • You change the value inside the box more time (example text layers).
  • At the end you save a PDF from Print button.
  • This PDF displays any change you’ve made (only display the sequence of changes): this is wrong because the file size is bigger and the visualization is slow. This PDF have to contain only the true layers not the history of changes. Try.

Bye
