I just updated your changes posted here and g.version only prints the
grass version. The copyright message is not printed at all on an SGI
Origin 2000 running IRIX 6.5.

Yesterday, I was having a problem with newlines, and it was fixed by
putting a blank line at the end of the sed.script file. I have no idea
how a new line character at the end of the sed command can effect the
output of the copyright, but it did. After the fix, the copyright was
working fine on my IRIX. I don't know why you would get double line
spacing on your machine. Strange.

Just thought I would let you know.

Hi Justin,

sorry for the confusion. After i posted the message to the list (which
said that i work on a fix) i had no time to update my changes.
Yesterday i got my linux system up'n'running again after a major upgrade
and checked in the changes.

I have the problem that with the last working setup i get a g.version
output on IRIX (with gcc) that has double line spacing. This IMHO is
something different from the missing newline in the sed.script. I think
that gcc is broken in a way that interprets the \n and the embedded
newline both.

I'll revert the changes and try to find the problem.

cu,

Andreas
