currently there is above problem with the GRASS 5b11 Linux binaries
on some platforms. I have no idea how to overcome it. There must be some
library version conflict. On my platform (even Suse), it works well.

I've seen this bug reported elsewhere, and I don't think there's much we
can do about it (it actually is a glibc or ld bug, I think). Suggest
persons encountering this problem compile from source.
