Markus,

Regarding the pruning, removed files, etc., I seem to remember
an email from Bernhard this past summer about how you keep
two CVS repositories. If this is the case, it would be possible
for me to do the update and miss some of the "pruning"
operations How do you manage to keep two CVS repositories
in sync? Yes, I did do the appropriate options on the cvs
command.

up to now we have one CVS repository. Later we will open the
5.1 repository for the "new GRASS". I guess the 5.0 tree
will get somewhat sleepy then.

I would be happy to test out the makefile system. Years ago
I wrote a Makefile builder for our Unix development teams.
It included a slick dependency checker for the source files.
If we included a "utility" section in grass, I would be happy
to add that to our system.

This sounds very interesting. Perhaps the "makefile professionals"
here could discuss this idea?

Kind regards

Hi Markus,

Sorry if I sounded irritated about the build system changing
and lashed out at Linux. That was not the intent. Grass is
a large system and it takes quite a while to build unattended.
If a failure occurs then it takes more of my time to figure
out what failed. Since my time is short this hand editing
of Gmakefiles is a bother. Building Grass5 for windows
used to be a clean process; now it takes much more time.

this is somewhat surprising. I was expecting the Gmakefiles
in the best conditions than ever! Please let me know where to
fix things.
