[GRASS5] Re: s.in.ascii problem - GRASS 5.4 binaries for Cygwin?

I'll forward this to the user and developer list again to see if we can
scare up Cygwin binaries for 5.4. I know where there are binaries for 5.7,
but not 5.4 yet.

Thank you Michael,

I am using Grass 5.3 version, because i can not find new binaries /5.4/ for
Windows. There are still 5.3 binaries at the
http://grass.itc.it/grass53/binary/mswindows_cygwin/.

I really do not know where the problem is, because it was possible to import
text file in this version before I reinstalled Windows XP /with SP2/ and
Cygwin.

I am very thankful for your answer.

Sincerely
Jaroslav

Jaroslav,

I am copying the GRASS developer's list about this problem. I think some
(all?) of these problems have been solved in GRASS 5.4, the new stable
version of GRASS (5.3 was the beta for 5.4). Note however, that the last
time I used s.in.ascii in GRASS 5.3, it would not import text data, only
numbers.

Hi,

I am sorry that I am distrubing you, but I have the same problem as you had
half year ago.

I can not import any ascii file with string characters using s.in.ascii for
GRASS 5.3. It gives a 'segmentation fault. core dump' error.

I would like to ask if you have fixed the problem. Thank you very much.

Markus,

Thanks. This is Huidae Cho's site and the one I know of for 5.7. Do you know
of a place to get 5.4 binaries for cygwin?

News:
Thanks to Richard Greenwood (GRASS 5.4.0) and Huidae Cho (needed
extra packages) we have a first test versionof winGRASS 5.4.0
available:
http://grass.itc.it/grass54/binary/mswindows_cygwin/

Please test....
