Hi,
It's been awhile since I've used grass. I wonder if there is a current
5.0 pre3 binary
for sperc/solaris2.6, or if the solaris8 bins work?
Thanx in advance, and sorry for the unsolicited mail (I have checked all
the sites so far...)

does anyone know if solaris8 binaries are downward compliant to
sparc/solaris2.6 (both SUN)?
Thanks,
Markus

Markus, Nicolas,
i can't say if the sol8 bins will run on solaris 2.6. But my experience
is that binaries from solaris 8 run under solaris 7, so you might simply
install the binary and check if it works. I see no other way than
trying.
If i remember correctly the pkg-package does not check for the os
version. So installation should be no problem. May be you can not get
the latest tcl/tk 8.3 for solaris 2.6.
Please do not forget to tell us if it works. If not i can change the
pre-inst script to check for the os version.
But upgrading from 2.6 to sol 7 (or 8) should be not that much of a
problem now.
HTH,
Andreas
