If you explicitly want an old version, you can extract it
from CVS:

http://grass.itc.it/grasscvstags.html

5.0.1pre1:
cvs -z3 checkout -r release_grass500pre1_20_may_2001

Note that the current GRASS stable version is 5.0.2.
