Hi,
it would be nice to have implemented the category label transfer
in vector/v.to.rast/support.c (G_set_cat() such as in r.buffer).
Eg., converting the Spearfish 'fields' vector map should
not only transfer the category numbers, but also the
category labels to the raster map (maybe with additional
column parameter to select the column to be written out
as raster label).
Most pieces seem to be there already.

Only the labels remain, the cats are already written.
