[GRASSLIST:10127] v.db.select - select by string possible?

Hi list,
is it possible to use v.db.select to "select" attributes based on pieces of
strings? For example, I would like to select all items in my attribute table
which contain Strings with "-ing" at the end.
I tried this:
GRASS 6.1.cvs (muc_shape):~ > v.db.select map=bez_teile where="name='*ing'"

But all I got was (sigh):
Speicherzugriffsfehler (Error)

Hi Wolfgang (hoho), hello list:
I just found out that this query works for sqlite:
v.db.select aerde where="label like '%ab%'"

Does this mean that the below mentioned queries are not possible for
dbf-databases?
