[GRASSLIST:10372] QGIS/GRASS for Windows 060217

Updated preview: http://mpa.itc.it/radim/wingrass/qgis-0.7.9-win32-060217.zip

Changes:
+ fixed path to GRASS manual pages (available in GRASS Tools)
+ partialy fixed crash on projection page of GRASS new location wizard
(it can still crash on
region page if a selected region cannot be reprojected - problem
with exceptions on MinGW)
+ GRASS Tools ask user if overwrite existing map

Radim

Hi Radim,

Thanks for giving Windows operability to the GRASS/QGIS interface. After I changed the theme from qgis options, all icons in the toobar disappeared and now the only theme avaiable is "grass"; no way to revert. Did I do something wrong?

Ciao,

Luigi

There is no theme grass, there is only default and kids available.
I have to check why it appeared in the list and I'll fix that for next release.

To return to the default theme open regedit and in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->QuantumGIS->qgis
delete item 'Themes' and restart qgis.

hello Radim,

congrats to your work !

when trying to test-drive qgis/grass on a xp machine with the standard
spearfish dataset (fresh from the itc-site), grass vectors work fine.
However, when trying to open any grass raster, I get the following error:

"C:/..../locations//spearfish60/PERMANENT/cellhd/elevation.10m is not a
supported raster data source".

Is raster processing still unstable or are maybe specific read/write
privileges to be set ?

Most probably I recompiled GDAL without GRASS for a moment
for some reason and then I packaged QGIS.
I know that I could display GRASS rasters but I did not test all
formats (data types).
I'll fix that tomorrow.

Radim

Peter

Today I tested GRASS rasters with qgis-0.7.9-win32-060217
and Spearfish and it works for me.
Do you have other versions of GDAL on your system?
It should not be problem because Windows should first search for
DLL in the directory where application is located.

Anybody other had success/problems with GRASS rasters?

Radim

I have the same problem with qgis and grass from rpm installation on SuSe
10.0!

Spearfishh or my own rasters dont get loaded, same error warning.

That can be hardly for the same reason as on Windows.
Most probably your gdal is not compiled with GRASS, try
gdalinfo --formats

Thank you!
You seem to be right, so, there is no GRASS format listed. how can I introduce
GRASS formats?
I used the rpms from gdf... before I hat compiled my own version, but did not
get qgis compiled, so I tried with packages from gdf. Vector format works
fine.

Thanks in advance
Manuel

Hello Radim,

Thank you for your work on QGIS/GRASS for Windows.

I am able to display and zoom GRASS rasters, however the "identify
features" tool crashes QGIS - "The instruction at xxx referenced
memory a yyy. The memory could not be read". Is the "identify
features" tool only for vectors?

Also possibly confusing for some users is this: When user picks "add
raster" button, if previous selection was a GRASS file, the "Files of
Type" selection is on "AIG GRASS All other files (*)" however not
files are displayed. The user must switch to some other file type, and
then back to "AIG GRASS..." before files are displayed. (Maybe this is
a problem on my machine - Windows 2000).

Yes that was bug in QGIS (all platforms) introduced with move to QT4
I have fixed that.

This was bug in Qt < 4.1.1:
http://www.trolltech.com/developer/changes/changes-4.1.1.html

BTW, this suggests that you are using standard dialog to add GRASS
rasters, note that you can also use "Add GRASS raster layer" dialog
in GRASS plugin toolbar.

Thanks for testing.
