[GRASSLIST:10639] is there netcdf support in GRASS??

Good people,

i’m trying to figure out if GRASS can import netcdf format files.

Has anyone out there used netcdf files for modeling in GRASS?

thanks,
vishal

As far as I know NetCDF is not supported directly in GRASS. But there
are several good utilities (for example in Scientific Python) for
extracting the data layers from NetCDF that can then be reformatted
for use in GRASS.

Vishal,

GDAL has limited support for the netcdf format
(http://www.gdal.org/frmt_various.html#netCDF). You have to compile
GDAL explicitly with this option since it's not the default. If you've
got his setup, you might be able to use r.in.gdal to import to GRASS.
