I have recompiled GRASS 5.7 on Mac OSX: hopefully the
relocation problem is solved now. Give it a try:
http://mpa.itc.it/markus/grass57/macosx/
and let me know, if it works now.

Bad news, it doesn't. The binaries are not relocatable.
Someone knowing the gcc compiler flags better than me on Mac OSX
is needed (I can provide access to the machine).
From the compile directory it works well, but not if the
package is installed into a different directory.
