It was not clear from my earlier post that I, too, have tried running
11.2.
distribution has libcurses.so.5. i have infact i just copied
libcurses.so.5 into the /usr/lib directory and then it works fine.
I don't have a copy of libncurses.so.5 to copy. 
But, I should be able
to install it in addition to the earlier versions. Theoretically, at least.
i was a little intrigued by one person who said he just renamed
libncurses.so.4 to libncurses.so.5 and it worked fine!!
What I read in the post to which I responded, was that the ncurses.so.5 file
was renamed to libncurses.so.5 and that made the difference.
Anyway, it's more of an annoying delay than a major problem -- I hope!
