[GRASSLIST:1785] batch image processor recommendations

I have a large number of tifs that were scanned at a fairly high resolution (400-600 dpi). Each image is around 250 megabytes in size. I'd like to hear recommendations for processing them all (en mass) to a more reasonable resolution/size.

ImageMagick's "convert" utility has a reasonable selection of filters
for use when resizing an image.
