I am currently programming a game that requires views of the

Unfortunatley they are all very pricing and trying to recreate
something that is up to date and cheap has been the challenge.
I am wondering if anyone could help me out by batch rendering a
number of views of the world if I was to supply information.
In return they would get a mention in the games credits.
P.S. The game is a large networked game, and we don't have the cpu
time to render on the fly, thats why the images will be prerendered.
I know it's been a while since you posted it but I'm quite keen to get into a new project and have some spare time at the moment. This sounds interesting! Do you have any screenshots of the current state of the project or a demo?
How much information are you expecting to have to send across the internet? ie. Do the rendered pictures have to be online or on the users computer?
Will the renders need to be updatable with in-game information?
Look forward to your reply

at what scale would these images be?
for an entire planet, xplantet might work
for larger scales (i.e. smaller regions) POVRAY might do the trick....
and both of those are free.

Matthew,
I would try using Generic Mapping Tools (GMT): http://gmt.soest.hawaii.edu/

Here a quick example for POVRAY: SRTM and LANDSAT7

please keep in mind that this is all experimental stuff.
