[GRASSLIST:3126] RE: displaying vectors by labels

I loaded the vector's database in the PostgreSQL database and used v.reclass.pg. For doing tahat I used a not really elegant technique, but it worked. First I imported the table in R and then through RdbiPgSQL sent them to PostgreSQL. I am sure that in grass 5.7 the process in much easier.

Hi all, I have a vector map that I imported using m.in.e00. I have a dig_cat
file that contains category numbers and their associated labels. I would like
to make a new vector file based upon the category labels, not the numbers. Can
I do this, if so, how?

an example of my file is

1:2
2:2
3:2
4:1
5:1
6:2
7:3
etc. etc.

I would like to make a map of all vectors labelled 2, however there are hundreds
of different category labels. This seems like it should be very easy, and I am
just missing something simple.

Thanks,
Ian

PS I am using GRASS 5.0.0 on osx 10.2.8
