The wrong gdal packages (for grass57) are in Mandrake 10.0, since
grass57 requires gdal-1.2.x. The soname changed between 1.1.9 (from
libgdal.so.1.1) and 1.2.0 (to libgdal.so.1) - normally library number
change should not cause these problems, but because the soname was
incorrect in the beginning (upstream gdal bug) this was not possible, it
should work in the future though. The right packages are in cooker, is
also the place you found the grass57 packages ...Note that mixing binary packages from different releases is not
supported ...I don't want to upload gdal-1.2.x to community contrib since it will
require updates to other libraries (libtiff, libgeotiff) and break any

support nightmare - so it would be better to wait another 2 or 3 weeks
