[GRASSLIST:4176] Disabling Beep in v.to.db

Is there any environment variable that can be thrown to disable the
"beep" which the computer generates when issuing a warning message?

For example,I am running a command:
v.to.db map=play field=2 option=count col1=playcat

however, not all rows exist in the table (which is just as it should be
for this particular data).

WARNING: Cat 24880 row does not exist (not updated)

What is annoying, is that the computer beeps for each warning message.
Any way to turn this off?
