is there a way to obtain antialiasing with GRASS-5.3?

No, but you can export a screen dump to the GIMP or other paint program
and run a mild smoothing/blur filter if you need to rescale the image.
e.g. for a presentation slide. (Otherwise 1-pixel-wide features can be lost)
