you are right, it was a segmentation problem. I increased npmin, and the
squares disappeared.

The module uses a segmantation procedure for datasets with more ~600
points. If the number is less then you can interpolate without
segmentation (i.e. "segmax=600" option should be added to the command I
believe). Otherwise you must use higher npmin to include more points for
interpolation within the segment.Hope this helps.
