[GRASSLIST:5355] classify capabilities

Hi, I'm new to grass, in deed, I did not installed it yet, but, I want to
know if
the following is possible using grass:

I have a complete set of vector layers and orthophotos covering the area
of Bizkaia/Spain

The catastral department asked me for an application to evaluate the
veracity
of the delcared land use of parcels (int the Parcels polygon layer).

I think this may be done by supervised classification of raster data (say
orthophotos, Radarsat, etc.)
and then generating a GRID layer for subsequent spatial and attribute
comparison with the vector layers

is it posible to do this using GRASS?
