i´m using grass54 binaries. what´s the difference between using precompiled binaries and compiling source code! (for all grass versions).

If you want to be able to modify some module or just recompile one particular
module after someone has posted a bugfix for it, then you should compile from
source code as you can then selectively update the parts you want.
If you don't think you need/want to do that, the precompiled binaries are
definitely easier to install.
