Hi,
I solved it but don't know what the problem was.
Command line editing did work and I had installed R
using a mandrake rmp (mandrake is very much like Red
Hat). But I just compiled the new R version 1.7 and
also installed the GRASS extension v 0.2-8 and now
command line editing does not work but at least when I
quit R from inside grass the terminal works ok.
Thanks for the attention
Daniel

and forwards in the
command line? When you have retrieved a previous
command line, can you
change it (type into it after having gone to the
left end with the Home
key? Something seems to be happening when you leave
R to make the terminal
window go "insane", sometimes typingstty sane
helps, it resets the way the keyboard input is
displayed on the terminal.Does the same thing happen if you just run R by
itself without GRASS, i.e.
leaving R makes the terminal unusable? How did you
install R (rpm? compile
from source?)?I don't have access to Mandrake, but we can carry on
looking for things.Roger
