a background-job, as the older versions have, would be a nice idea,
since one could utilise the time to prepare the next image.
Escpecially, this is a drawback for i.ortho.photo in grass6,
since it could be used solely interactively!

If you want to background it yourself just hit Ctrl-z then type 'bg' at
the prompt. Redirect stderr to /dev/null if you don't want to see the
percentage done status messages.
I think "we'll email you when it is done" is a lot weirder.
