r.stats -aql fs="^" input=$GRASTER1,$GRASTER2 > $TMP_PATH/stats.$$

I tried to write in /*/grasslinks/prog/reporter as follows.
HOME=/home/grass/grasslinks
But there is still a messeage in Apache error log.
sh: line 1: cd: HOME not set
WARNING: can't read range file for [landuse in PERMANENT]
ERROR: r.stats: can't read range for [landuse]
1) When does "r.stats" demand variable "HOME"?
2) Where do I write variable "HOME" to let "r.stats" work?
Please give me suggestion.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely yours.
