[GRASSLIST:9406] Installation issues with Cygwin on Win XP

I am a new user--and have installed the cygwin product. First, I cannot tell whether Grass is fully installed. When I punch the Grass .bat file, I see a very quick DOS window flash by, and then it is gone. Are there unusual parameters to set with Win XP?

In order to see the error messages, open a DOS command window in your
cygwin directory e.g. c:\cygwin, and the launch the grass batch file
from there, probably grass6.bat, but depends on the Grass version that
you have installed.
