Routines available in GRASS4.1:
(1) Load TM imagery with "i.tape.tm";
(2) Load SPOT imagery with "i.tape.spot";
(3) If you encounter a different tape formats which cannot be handled
by above commands, use "i.tape.other".
"i.tape.other" is a more generic command to read different kind of the
imagery. This command allows you read either from a tape or a disk file. The
only thing you should aware before running "i.tape.other" is that you must
understand what are exactly on the tape and file format.
If you have any problems, write directly to me, I would like to send you
more details.

Thanks in advance for your attention and help.
Could some kind heart provide me with some hints about how to read a TM or
SPOT image file into GRASS? We would like to use our local image for
teaching purposes and could not figure out how to have it done.We do have a 9 tract tape drive attached to an old PC ERDAS which is now
out of order. If possible, we also would like to connect this tape drive
to the Linux so that we can read the files from tape directly. At this
moment, how to read an image file is the first priority. Thanks again.Harry
