i.class - can you input a signature file which has been made elsewhere

I have data which has been colected in the field which is a point-file. Can
Iget this into a signature file to train an image?

Are these transects, patchs/polygons, or just scattered points?

For the transects or scattered points, the best way to do this may be
to import these as sites, convert to raster at the appropriate
resolution, (and then generate the training statistics).

For patches/polygons, see r.in.poly.
