for Louis Clarke:
1) v.in.dxf works fine, but GRASS does not understand all DXF data types
(a.o. circles and annotations)
2) the import/export routine I use most is ARC/INFO Ungenerate
3) make a UTM-grid in GRASS with v.mkgrid
4) annotations unfortunately will have to be made with d.labels
5) p.map however makes a grid with annotations, but that's only for
hard-copy output
and for Peter Mikes:
if your maps are supposed to coincide and they don't, check your original
map for errors; if you can't fix the problem in your original map:
try v.transform - this should at least get the corners of your maps
at the same position.
Good luck to both of you!
