Hi,
I'm real close to fully understanding the informix-grass link, but I need help in trying to figure out how the maps are linked with the database. What is and how do you create the spatial data key which is associated with the RDBMS key?
Is it simply the attribute number (for vector)? How does informix know that this is the link?
Thank you for any help,

Yes, you're right there, you should use the attribute value for vector
files. It's probably a bit confusing, but the syntax of the grass-informix
tools shows you that it will search for x,y-coordinates in the case of
sites files, dig_att values in the case of vector files, and just the
raster-cell values for cell maps. In all cases grass-informix needs to
know which columns in the informix database represent those values. So
what you do is create a table in informix-sql that has at least one column
with the unique attribute-values of you vector-map, and then execute
d.vect.inf to color all your lines with attribute values 1 in red, or
something like that. Works great!
Good luck,
