Just reading through some back mail , ans saw a message from you as below
/usr/grass/etc/lock: can't load dynamic limker '/lib/ld.so'
Unable to properly access /home/grass/.gislock
Please notify system personel.
I edited "grass4.1" to reflect my installation location as follows:
:
GISBASE= /usr/grass
export GISBASE
exec $GISBASE/etc/GIS.sh
I realize that there is a .gislock and .grassrc file tha tmus tbe located
in the user's home directory, but am unsure of what should be in them.
Can anyone be of assistance?

Did you ever get this problem sorted out ? I have a similar problem as below
Grass.start
/proj/ice/MODELS/Grass.alpha/axp/etc/lock: /home/northwind/dunnj/.gislock: Read-only file system
Unable to properly access /home/northwind/dunnj/.gislock
Please notify system personel.
Do you have any leads on how I rectify this.
