We have the `xv' software installed, which grabs the screen or a GRASS-
generated ppm file and writes PostScript files in the 24x35mm format.
The resultant file is sent to a remote queue attached to a SlideWriter.

XV also has its own TIFF output option that you might try. Slick program!!

BTW: Photographing the screen - if you take care to avoid distortion -
  can result in very nice slides too.
