There is a new version of mapgen available under grass/incoming
on moon.cecer.army.mil. It is a compressed tar file called
mapgen.tar.Z.

while compiling src.related/mapgen/SCS/misc, I run into the following:

etc/colors
etc/PLOTTER
etc/usbase
./setup_map: 6288 Memory fault - core dumped

has anyone else noticed this?
is there a fix?

this is under SunOS 4.1.x

sorry for any false alert. This seems to be a problem with
cpio that only affects Purdue people (our cpio is a little
brain damaged).

Thanks to Marji for helping me diagnose the problem.
