MapInfo to GRASS

Dear All

Apologies if this has been asked before, but is there a simple way of
converting from MapInfo format into GRASS? I'm about to be sent some
MapInfo format files - presumably these can be either ASCII or binary.
Currently running GRASS 4.2.1 on RH Linux 6.0

Roy,

GRASS can import raw ASCII files with no problems, so if you have
a choice, go with ASCII. Presently, there's no direct way to import
MapInfo binaries directly.
