Motif 1.2.x & X11R5

I would echo Kenn Gardels sentiments with the following additions. Since
Motif is part and parcel of the COSE standard, it will be at least one of
the standard interfaces for most UNIX platforms and most OEM and third
party software running on those systems. As an administrator and teacher,
consistency in the user interface is a very important aspect of a usable
system. There is considerable value in the GRASS interface being consistent
with most other software the user encounters. This may not be true for
longtime GRASS users and certifiable UNIX wizards, but it is critical for
new users and they are critical to the long term success and survival of
open software efforts in their competition with proprietary systems (all of
which have three-D buttons). In addition, the Motif widgets are (finally)
more polished and varied than the Athena widgets.
