In the old GRASS web site I remember seeing demos (and a sort of man page/
tutorial) for the "nviz" tool (I think it was developed by Bill Brown
and others), which is an extension (and more) of the SG3d program.

I would like to know if anybody (especially the authors!) can give me
any information on this: is the program available ? if so, where ?
etc.
